Statement of Urgent Action of Hiroshima Candle Appeal
November 26, 2023
STOP! GENOCIDE in GAZA
NO NUKES NO WAR!
On the 24th, Israel was forced by overwhelming international public opinion to
suspend the Gaza Genocide attack for four days. Hamas is releasing hostages as
promised. Israel has been driven to the point of releasing some Palestinian women and
children held as [political prisoners].
However, Prime Minister Netanyahu has declared that after a temporary ceasefire, he will immediately resume attacks on Palestinians until Hamas is destroyed.
The Israeli Netanyahu government’s previous attacks on hospitals and devastating attacks on UN-run schools and shelters are impermissible. Forced power cuts that deprive the residents of the Gaza Strip of power, cut off all outside communications, water, food, electricity, fuel, and freedom of movement, and indiscriminate bombing from the air and from the ground.
This is nothing new; Israel has controlled such access for over 75 years. It has been committing heinous atrocities, including the incarceration of Palestinians in “prisons without ceilings” surrounded by high walls.
This time, with unprecedented intensity, they are continuing their ground invasion of the Gaza Strip with bombings and airstrikes. They are committing heinous atrocities at the expense of doctors who risk their lives to treat patients, the United Nations, and international NGOs.
How can such unprovoked aggression, deprivation, and genocide by one nation against another be tolerated in this day and age?
Israeli Defense Minister Gallant said! “We are fighting human animals and we act accordingly.” This is truly the ethnic cleansing!
Why must even newborn infants be deprived of oxygen through ventilators and allowed to die?
Why does the world allow Israel to commit such lawless acts of trampling on the lives of innocent people in order to expand its hegemony?
The inhumane historical facts of the Nazi Holocaust against the Jews and the indiscriminate massacre of Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States, known as Nuclear Genocide, are grave international crimes that humanity must never commit again.
The TPNW, which humanity finally reached in 2021, is now in its second meeting of the State Parties to the Treaty for Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons.
Neither the U.S., the country that dropped the atomic bombs, nor the government of Japan, the Nuclear bombed country, were present at the 2MSP. They both deny the TPNW. This has led to Russia’s threat to use nuclear weapons against Ukraine and Israel’s self-admitted possession of nuclear weapons, and has brought about the danger of nuclear war!
We stand in solidarity with all those who are killed, maimed, deprived of loved ones, and suffer environmental destruction by indiscriminate and unjustified force.
We stand in solidarity with all nuclear victims whose existence has been hidden from the world.
We appeal to the world from Hiroshima!
❖ We call for an immediate halt to Israel’s extermination of Palestine and Gaza and genocide attacks!
❖ Immediate halt of the war in Ukraine!
❖ Full support for nuclear victims and nuclear-affected communities!
❖ Nuclear weapons/technology and humanity cannot coexist!
STOP THE GENOCIDE! FREE PALESTINE NOW!
NO WAR NO NUKES!
NO MORE HIBAKUSHA.
Today, from in front of the A-Bomb Dome, we are sending the Hiroshima message by the 1500 candles shining with the flame of the souls of the A-Bomb victims to the world.
STOP! GENOCIDE in GAZA
NO NUKES NO WAR!

The World’s Nuclear Victims Ask: To the G7 Summit Leaders <What will the G7 summit do in Hiroshima to avert the nuclear war crisis? What will the G7 Summit do in Hiroshima to rescue nuclear victims? >
Date: Saturday, May 13, 2023, 13:30-16:45 Place: World Peace Memorial Cathedral Organizer: Hiroshima Association for Nuclear Weapons Abolition (HANWA) Hybrid event, ¥1,000
Purpose of the event:
The leaders of the seven nations that depend on nuclear deterrence as the cornerstone of their security, including the three nuclear weapon states, will gather in Hiroshima, the site of the atomic bombing, to discuss what to do about the atomic bombing. What are they going to discuss?
Isn’t Hiroshima being used as a venue for discussions that will not only strengthen the military alliance with nuclear weapons as the cornerstone of its security policy and promote an early end to the war in Ukraine through further military expansion, but will also lead to increased tensions in the world?
We demand that if the conference is held in the A-bombed city of Hiroshima, it should express a strong will for the abolition of nuclear weapons by immediately ending the war in Ukraine, banning the use of depleted uranium (DU) in Ukraine by both sides of Russia, Ukraine and discussing concrete measures to indemnify all nuclear victims in the world and to restore environmental contamination caused by radiation. *To this end, as part of the World Nuclear Victims Forum held in Hiroshima in 2015, we invite nuclear victims from inside and outside the world to discuss the actual situation of nuclear damage, predictions of inhumane tragedies that would be caused by nuclear war, support for nuclear victims and nuclear-affected areas, and prevention of the spread of nuclear damage, and to send out their voices from Hiroshima to the G7 and to the world. The conference will also strengthen the network of nuclear victims around the world.
